After a week where it emerged that George Zimmerman appeared to have no cuts or injuries, today, protesters begun marching in the Florida town where 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed. The protest follows similar marches in various cities in America. The killing has become a melting pot of controversy, and today a thousand people carrying signs and wearing T-shirts with the teen’s image were marching to the Sanford Police Department . The Rev.Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak when they arrive.

This image captures hundreds of Mega Millions customers waiting in a line to purchase their tickets to Friday night’s $640 million estimated jackpot at the Primm Valley Lotto Store just inside the California and Nevada state line. As of 10:30 a.m yesterday, estimated wait-time to purchase tickets at the store had exceeded five hours.

Speaking of Katie, her ex Chris Klein has revealed that their relationship “ended as amicably as these things can end”.

Spindly olive trees, flowering almond branches, and picturesque windmills were the norm as I cycled through the small villages and countryside of Mallorca, Spain. I recently had the privilege of spending an entire week on the beautiful Spanish Island- cycling, sunning, and enjoying good company. The real highlight of the week was the food. Every meal started with a bowl of the fresh, plump little green olives, bread, and perhaps a small dish of garlic-laced aioli. The paella was cooked with love and care, in the true Spanish style- its golden hue owed to the perfect combination of saffron, paprika, and tomatoes.
Making this paella at home couldn’t be easier. While the seasonings and cooking method are similar, this version differs greatly from the Spanish standard paella mixto in that it contains no shellfish or chorizo. Instead, it features seasonal produce and canned staples. The Portobello mushrooms are hearty and soak up the flavors of the spices. The asparagus was chosen due to its seasonal abundance in my local grocery store. If there’s another green veggie that strikes your fancy on your shopping trip, feel free to substitute a like amount. If you are looking to stretch this for a crowd, you could add steamed crumbled tempeh (just add the cooked tempeh during the last five minutes of cooking) I hope this ethnic vegetarian fare spices up your weeknight meal plan!
Paella with mixed vegetables
I used a 13” wide paella pan. This specialty pan is available from some retail stores and online sources for less than $30. If you don’t have a paella pan, you can substitute a wide, shallow skillet. You may need to adjust your cooking time and amount of liquid to compensate for a thicker pan. Taste as you go, and turn off the heat when the rice is at the desired consistency!
Ingredients:
1- 1 ½ tbsp olive oil
2-3 large portabella mushrooms
2 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper
1 medium sized sweet onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
1- 1 ½ cups high quality crushed (or diced) tomatoes
1 ½ cups short grain Spanish rice or Arborio Rice
3 ½ cups vegetable stock or water (or combination of both)
Generous pinch saffron threads
½ bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1” pieces
½ can of artichoke hearts, drained and halved (about 5 large hearts)
½ cup frozen peas, thawed
Lemon wedges, for serving
1. Heat oil in a paella pan over medium heat. Sauté the sliced portabella mushrooms for 3-5 minutes until slightly wilted. Add the sweet paprika, oregano, and salt and pepper and stir to combine. Remove mushrooms from pan. Be careful to reserve as much of the spice mixture with the mushrooms.
2. In the same pan, sauté the onions for 3-5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more. If necessary, add ½ tbsp oil to prevent the onions from sticking.
3. Add tomatoes and cook for 3-5 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan to incorporate any remaining spices. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
4. Add the rice and stir to combine. Pour in water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. If your pan is very large, carefully move it around on the burner to ensure that the rice cooks evenly.
5. Add the saffron and stir to combine. Add the asparagus and canned artichokes and stir gently to distribute evenly. Allow the paella to simmer, without stirring, until the rice is al dente, for about 15 minutes more. Expect the rice to expand slightly as it absorbs the cooking liquid.
6. Taste the paella and adjust seasoning as desired with salt and pepper. The paella rice should be tender and moist, but not too sticky. Add a little more liquid to thin if desired. Stir in peas.
7. Remove from heat and rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with lemon wedges (optional). Note: Lemon wedges are traditionally served alongside a paella mixto, which has fish, shellfish, and shrimp. Here, the lemon brightens the final dish!

Did you wake up rich beyond your dreams? If you didn’t, you’re not alone with millions of Americans facing disappointment this morning
The winning numbers for the $640 million Mega Millions jackpot were: 2, 4, 23, 38, 46 and Mega Ball 23.
Three ticket holders have got all six numbers in the $640m Mega Millions lottery draw – putting them in line to receive $154m each as a lump sum.
Lottery ticket-holders in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland each selected the winning numbers and will split a $640 million jackpot that was believed to be the world’s largest such prize, a lottery official said.
Mike Lang, spokesman for the Illinois Lottery, said his state’s winning ticket was sold in the small town of Red Bud, near St. Louis. The winner used a quick pick to select the numbers, he said.
The Maryland Lottery announced earlier Saturday that it had sold a winning ticket at a retail store in Baltimore County. No details were immediately available about the Kansas ticket.
Lang said each winning ticket was expected to be worth more than $213 million before taxes.
“We’re thrilled,” she said. “We’re due and excited.”
Americans spent nearly $1.5 billion for a chance to hit the jackpot, which amounts to a $462 million lump sum and around $347 million after federal tax withholding. The odds of winning the jackpot were stacked at 1 in 176 million.

When it was revealed that cocaine was a contributory factor in Whitney Houston’s death, we were saddened, but not too surprised.
We were first told that she died of a heart attack from drug use, but we chose not to report it until the official toxicology reports were announced.
Now, a source tells us that the singer bought an “ounce” of cocaine every few days leading up to her death.
The source says: “She was getting an ounce every couple of days. A $1000 dollars every couple of days…”
To put this into perspective, and we’re not claiming it was all for her, but more likely for everyone around her: 1 ounce of anything equals 28.3498 grams.
That’s a whole lot of stuff.
Meanwhile, TMZ are reporting that police did recover cocaine from Whitney’s hotel room after her death.
Official documents reveal “white powdery remnants” were found in her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel and tested positive for the illegal drug.
TMZ further claims that Beverly Hills detectives are not investigating claims cocaine was removed from the room.
They write: “Cops are not focusing on anyone who possibly removed cocaine, because authorities are in possession of the goods”.
Yesterday, Lindsay Lohan had something to celebrate after finally completing her endless court appearances and being given the all clear to now move on with her life.
It was a defining moment, that many never saw coming. And the actress threw a party at the fame LA haunt, the Chateau Marmont last night… though, it must be noted, that she wasn’t drinking.
What better way to celebrate the end of your probation than by throwing a party! That’s just what Lindsay Lohan did!
“It was a private suite — the place was packed with people,” a partygoer tells Life & Style about the March 29 gathering at the Chateau Marmont in LA. The soiree started around 9 p.m. — just a few hours after Judge Stephanie Sautner lifted Lindsay’s probation for a 2007 drunk-driving conviction. “It was so crowded, you could barely see anything.”
“She was talking to a group of friends,” the partygoer tells Life & Style. “I didn’t see her have anything to drink.”
But the newly free star did indulge in a little excess — she changed her outfit multiple times throughout the night!
“She first had on this white dress, then changed into a black top and jeans,” the partygoer says. “But then she changed again into another dress. She came out like five times from the bedroom wearing something different each time.”
Celeb pals like Nicky Hilton, new mom Kimberly Stewart and Brandon Davis (who famously called Lindsay “Firecrotch” during a rift in 2006) came out to support her.
“Nicky was friendly and in good spirits,” the partygoer tells Life & Style. “Kimberly looked very understated. She totally seems like she’s in full mommy mode now. She only stayed until 9:30 because she said she had to get back to her child.”
While the Mean Girls actress was excited to end her probation, she decided to keep it more exclusive later on in the evening.
“Around midnight, she started kicking people out that she didn’t know,” the partygoer says.
Next up for Lindsay is a guest spot on Glee, in which she’ll play herself. She’s also set to play legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime biopic Liz and Dick.
On the back of the footage released yesterday of George Zimmerman showing no evident sign of injuries, nor any blood stains, the funeral director who handled Trayvon’s body has spoken out.
Richard Kurtz, who prepared the 17-year-old’s body for burial, said he did not notice injuries which would suggest that he had been involved in a fight, as Zimmerman has insisted.
In another interview with CBS news, Mr. Kurtz also reiterated this point, saying: ”We could see no physical signs like there had been a scuffle, there had been a fight.”
“The hands – I didn’t see any knuckles, bruises or what have you. And that is something we would have covered up if it would have been there.”
He added: “The story does not make sense, that he was in this type of scuffle, of fight.’
As previously reported, Trayvon’s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin told CNN’s Piers Morgan that the video footage of Zimmerman proves “what they have known all along”.
Ms Fulton told Morgan: “We just looked at the video and we were just surprised because according to the police report, he sustained injuries, but when we looked at the video, it was obvious that there were no visible injuries. [there was no] blood on his shirt.”
However, George Zimmerman’s brother last night faced the public to insist his brother is “the neighbour that everyone would want to have” and shot Trayvon Martin in while defending himself.
Robert Jr insisted that, contrary to media reports, his brother was responsible and friendly as he said: “He’s the neighbour that everybody would want to have. He goes out of his way to help people – he always has.”
And he added that police footage of the killer after his arrest proved that he was injured in a fight with Trayvon: “To me his nose looks swollen in that video. I’m his brother.”
You either love Celine Dion’s massive hit ”My Heart Will Go On”, or you hate it.
In what is bound to cause some controversy, Kate Winslet, the star of the film the Titanic which propelled the song to being one of the biggest-selling hits of all time, is not a fan…at all.
She told MTV News: “I feel like throwing up when I hear it. No, I shouldn’t say that. No, actually, I do feel like throwing up.
“I wish I could say, “Oh listen, everybody! It’s the Celine Dion song!” But I don’t.
“I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll”.
