For almost a year now, America has waited for Casey Anthony to speak out about her acquittal in the death of her daughter Caylee.
With various reports that she now weighed 500 pounds; signed a book deal; and was moving to Costa Rica, Anthony finally decided to set the record straight.
The 26-year-old spoke to CNN’s Piers Morgan via phone, and Morgan relayed the details of their 10-minute conversation on air.
“I did not kill my daughter,” Morgan quotes Anthony as saying. “There’s nothing in this world I’ve ever been so proud of. There’s no one I loved more than my daughter. She’s my greatest accomplishment.”
She went on to say: ”The public perception of me is bad, absolutely horrible. I was a stupid kid. I’ve never been a ‘party girl,’ and I’ve gone through hell. I’m ashamed in many ways of the person I was.”
Adding to the weight that she has changed her ways, she insisted that she doesn’t drink now and has only had a “handful of beers” since she has been on probation.
Revealing details of her day-to-day life, her lawyer Cheney Mason says Anthony spends her days indoors, watching television and is current reading The Hunger Games trilogy.
