Charlie Sheen on American Idol: “I’m genuinely interested”

By Evan Hosie

Charlie Sheen is at it again, this time promoting himself through his new show, “Anger Management,” on the Ryan Seacrest KISS-FM morning show. But is it true he’s considering being a judge on A.I.?

Sheen:  “It kind of came out of nowhere and I responded with a quote just to sort of check the temperature of it or test the waters, haven’t heard anything back. I guess it got some people curious.” It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun. Seriously…I’m genuinely interested. It’s so different, it could be radical.”

 On Leaving Twitter:

“There was something about it that never felt right and it’s hard to tell 8 million people: ‘Hey, don’t take it personally.’ It just never felt like it represented who I am and who my fans have come to know me to be. I’ve always been a really private guy and then to be reporting every 14 minutes about what kind of dressing you had on your salad?! There’s enough information out there as it is, for me to keep fueling that…I don’t know. I just lost a passion for it, I guess that’s what it was.”On Being Back On TV:

“It’s exciting! It’s not just coming back on, but to come back on with something that I’m really proud of. It’s really exciting to see the response and to see how people are really tuning into this thing and just not being let down. It’s a readjustment, because I left a show they were quite fond of and got very familiar with these characters and these stories and then one day it just got shut off, but I’m excited to bring something back. It’s so different, you can’t even compare the two.”

So, is Charlie having fun on the new set? :

“I am. It was the first time in a while that I was excited to get to work and then sad to leave. There’s an environment there that welcomes all types of input, myself included. I don’t feel like just a hired gun or a puppet. Everybody there is striving for the same goal, which is really exciting.”
