Even in the face of adversity, Americans found a way to lighten the mood - It was a dark , dark day on Monday, but many internet pranksters used computer wizardry to create images that made us laugh

It was the worst storm of the century, but yesterday as most residents of the East Coast bunkered down and waited for Frankenstorm to hit, they were provided with some light relief by Superstorm Sandy-related memes spreading across the internet.

Here are our favorite photoshopped images, which we saw all over people’s Facebook’s yesterday.

And, lastly, you have to hand it over to Jimmy Fallon and David Letterman, who went ahead with their late night talk shows, despite having no audience members and the weather conditions outside.

Laughter sometimes can be the best medicine, particularly when reality is so brutal.
