His prowess on the field is widely known thanks to being a key player in the New England Patriots. But last year his name hit the headlines for the wrong reasons– he and Kim Kardashian were exchanging in some sexy texts whilst the reality star was married to Kris Humphries..
As he is keen to point out, the Kardashian scandal is in the past and with current projects like the social media app Mobli, and an eye on a return to the sport he loves, Lockett is looking forward at a very bright future.
Here, he reveals all about life, love, inspiration and his guilty pleasures…
Celebzter: What odds do you give the New England Patriots of winning the next Superbowl?
Bret Lockett: I’m not a huge numbers guy but if I was I would say the Patriots have very high odds of making it back to the big dance.
Celebzter: You made a parlay into music, how did that come about?
Bret Lockett: It’s always been a passion of mine that I wanted to pursue but never had the time to because of how consumed I was with sports and other extracurricular activities growing up. Unfortunately, the last 2 years in the NFL I’ve been injured so instead of wallowing in the frustrations of not being able to play I decided to make something positive out of the situation.
Celebzter: Can you tell us a little about Mobli?
Bret Lockett: Mobli is a social media picture and video sharing network that allows you to upload pictures and videos in real-time. It is one of the coolest apps that I’ve seen and is rapidly growing with over 3 million users. The thing I enjoy about Mobli the most is how your able to categorize the theme of your pictures and videos you post into what we call at Mobli, “Channels”, which is subjects like people, places, and things.
Celebzter: It has grown at rapid speed, why do you think it has caught on so quick?
Bret Lockett: One thing that people love is being able to complete something instantly. Mobli allows people to share their lives, moments, families, and friends instantly with the world. What’s not to love about that.
Celebzter: What other projects are you working on?
Bret Lockett: I am currently in the works of working with another up and coming social media platform, which I am extremely excited about. I recently signed a contract to play for the Las Vegas Locomotives, one of the 2012 United Football League teams so I can’t wait to start banging heads again. Also I have a couple new businesses in the interim stages that I am helping build. All in all you can expect a lot coming from me in the near future.
Celebzter: You had a phone relationship with Kim Kardashian, how did that develop?
Bret Lockett: To speak about something that’s so far in the past and that has been covered by so many people shouldn’t be rehashed. I’m currently looking forward, instead of dwelling on the past
Celebzter: What do you think of her and Kanye as a couple?
Bret Lockett: I think it’s beautiful when two people can love each other and actually make their relationship work through whatever circumstances occur.
Celebzter: What do you look for in a woman?
Bret Lockett: In a women one of the first things I look for is intelligence and knowing what she wants out of life and in man. It’s impossible to give someone your best when you don’t even know what you want for yourself. I also love positivity and great energy. Nothings ever perfect but with those qualities amongst others, you can always build a firm foundation in any relationship.
Celebzter: What do you do in your down time?
Bret Lockett: My guilty pleasure is watching Netflix. I love starting new television series and can literally stayed glued to the television screen all day. I just finished “Prison Break” and “White Collar”, which were both one of my favorites.
Celebzter: What makes you happy?
Bret Lockett: What makes me happy is making others happy whether it’s teaching them something or learning something from them I strive everyday to put positive energy into the universe. In reality happiness isn’t selfishness or material things even though they may provide temporary satisfaction. It’s the small things like calling a friend you haven’t spoken to or seen in a while or listening to a funny story about one of your family members. That’s what makes me happy.
Celebzter: What message do you want to promote to younger kids who see you as their idol?
Bret Lockett: Don’t be me or anyone else… Be you! The best type of creations in life are those that are one of kind. Be unique and don’t be afraid to exude the confidence that comes along with it. You will always be criticized until you change the minds of your peers so enjoy being unlike everyone else. It’s a privilege.
