Much of the attention after Hurricane Katrina has focused on repairing the physical damage still visible to this day in New Orleans. Yet, we must not forget the devastation left on the city’s creative institutions which have always been the soul and spirit of the people and at the heart of the region’s economic security. Arts and culture are fundamental to New Orleans and should be part of the long-term plan to bring the city back to prominence.
