Heartbreaking interview: Giuliana reveals her baby dream is on hold - After battling breast cancer, the TV host says the "most important thing is to focus on my health"

She’s battled breast cancer and won the war. But, Giuliana Rancic says that her dream of having a baby is on hold for the moment.

The TV star  has opened up to Life & Style magazine.

In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, Giuliana Rancic confesses that although she’s beaten breast cancer, her baby plans can’t just pick up where they left off. Sadly, Giuliana reveals, her plans for parenthood are on hold.

“I’ve had to put my health before my baby dream,” Giuliana confesses in the new issue of Life & Style. “My cancer diagnosis added another layer to it that we didn’t see coming.”

Giuliana discovered she had breast cancer last September, just as she was about to undergo a third round of in vitro fertilization. While her double-mastectomy surgery was successful, doctors warn that IVF, which temporarily raises estrogen levels, can stimulate the growth of breast-cancer cells. For that reason, many oncologists recommend a woman be cancer-free for five years before trying to get pregnant.

Though Giuliana admits “putting my baby dream on hold was devastating,” she’s not giving up. “Whether you adopt or use a surrogate or have a child naturally, all that matters is you have a child, so we’re open to everything,” she tells Life & Style. “We know that we’ll definitely have children one day.”

“We’re just taking it day by day,” Giuliana admits. “The most important thing is to focus on my health.”
