A happy ending: Jennifer Aniston is engaged!

For years following her split from husband Brad Pitt, it seemed happiness alluded her.

But not anymore.

From the moment Jennifer Aniston started dating Justin Theroux in May 2011, this romance has seemed different to the others post-Pitt.

And now it has emerged that Theroux popped the question on Friday, which also happened to be his 41st birthday.

“Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” his rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Meanwhile, those persistent rumors about Pitt and Jolie marrying soon are still around, with Mickael Latz, mayor of the nearby village of Correns, now claiming it is “more likely” the wedding will take place this coming Saturday.

In the old days, we may have looked at the timing of the Aniston announcement coupled with the rumors surrounding Pitt and Jolie and concurred that some sort of conspiracy was happening behind the scenes whereby two women were still fighting it out for column inches.

But it is now fairly evident that the three main players in arguably one of Hollywood’s most famous love triangles have moved on and each found their own happy ending.

I think they are a good match; she needed someone who was a strong man with his own accomplishments & talents. He seems to be intelligent with a good sense of humor and has an edge. Life works in mysterious ways, and sometimes the best relationships start as friendships; that’s the way it was with my husband of 10 years (and counting), but maybe I’m biased!

Jen and Justin are well suited having many of the same values and talents mixed with true appreciation of what’s really important in life. Justin stands out in many ways both in the biz and in his family interactions and comes from a long line of highly talented people of accomplishments. She’s been glowing since they came out as a couple, as has he, so it’s obviously the real deal here. Wishing them a long and happy union and as UTC said, that all fans will finally look to the future and not to the past.

They both seem to be “real” people. They have their own old friends since long ago and they have friends in common. They both seem mature and probably are able to solve problems by talking to each other. They both seem to live a healthy life. They both love dogs. They both love humor. They are both talented in what they do for living. What more can you wish for.
