‘I’m sorry – is there really no script?’ SNL’s hilarious parody of Brad Pitt’s Chanel Ad

Since Chanel released their first advert starring Brad Pitt for their No. 5 fragrance last week, there have been private sniggers and public mutterings of “WTH?”

So, it comes as no surprise that “Saturday Night Live” jumped at the chance to do a parody of the commercial.

Channeling Pitt (who has reportedly picked up a $7 million paycheck to front the fragrance), Taran Killam, with the prerequisite straggly hair and scruffy beard, stares off into the distance as he utters the actor’s words.

“The journey ends, but we go on,” Killam says at the beginning of the skit. “The world turns and we turn with it,” he continues. “Plans disappear and dreams take over .. and then dreams wake up and smile at reality – ”

But then, hilariously, he looks straight to the camera and says: ”I’m sorry – is  there really no script? Because I’ve been talking to myself  for like two hours  straight and I’m starting to sound insane.”

He then adds: “You want me to sound less coherent?”

“Ok, then I can just start making up words,” he says

Killam then starts ad-libbing made-up words  .. “Splendiferous … magnificus …” before adding: ‘Sorry, is it just me or do  I just look super homeless?’

Three more mock ads follow, with “Brad” shilling for brands including Taco Bell and tattoo removal services.

And the original, which inspired the spoof is below…. which is equally as entertaining.

Chanel seems to be getting their money’s worth! hahahahahaha!

Brad looks and sounds sexy to me. It will work with the majority of women and the only men will know is that BRAD PITT endorses it. All perfume ads look stupid to men. That’s all Chanel cares about and it looks like the industry numbers and opinions that count show this is a winner for Chanel.
I must confess I found it romantic. Though I was never a great fan of No. 5.
