There’s always a debate as to whether Angelina Jolie is too thin. She seems to vary from looking healthy to being skin and bones.
We felt she appeared underweight at the Golden Globes, but we’re not the experts: The Nutrition Twins are, and here’s what they have to say.
They write…
It’s reported that Angelina Jolie is 5’8. She appeared at the award show looking glamorous and fit and like the Hollywood ideal. We would guess that she may weigh about 118 pounds. The recommendation for someone her height is to weigh anywhere from 126 pounds to 154 pounds. So based on this recommendation, she may benefit from gaining a few pounds.
We realize that in a society where looking very lean just like Jolie is the ideal, this probably isn’t something she’d be willing to do. She probably is consuming about 1800 calories a day to maintain this weight. If she were to eat 2300 calories for a few months she would slowly gain weight.
If she continues to work out and strength train, challenging her muscles during this time while eating healthfully, most of the gain would likely be in muscle. If she was resistant to eating 2,300 daily, we would suggest, eating about 300 extra calories a day (2100 calories a day).
This could easily be achieved by adding a snack of a nonfat Greek yogurt with two tablespoons of nuts with piece of fruit, which she may be willing to do. So we would suggest adding a snack like this or adding an apple with two tablespoons of peanut butter for a snack. When she reached 126 pounds, she could start eating fewer calories– about 2000 to maintain her new weight.
