After her emotional exit yesterday, the speculation has growing at fever pitch as to who will replace co-host Ann Curry on the “Today” show.
And on Friday, NBC executives finally put an end to the question of who would be taking the hot seat next to Matt Lauer.
Savannah Guthrie has officially been chosen to co-host the morning show, the network announced Friday morning.
“In just a few short years Savannah, has become a standout member of the news division as well as the ultimate team player,” NBC News President Steve Capus said in a statement on Friday. “She’s got an undeniable range, and she’s earned the trust of the news community, her colleagues and our viewers alike. I couldn’t be happier for Savannah and the entire Today team.”
An emotional Curry announced Thursday that was leaving the NBC morning show and said that while she tried her best, she “couldn’t carry the ball to the finish line”.
