For months now, the rumors that there was trouble in paradise for Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have grown louder and louder.
While it has become increasingly evident that the pair, who have been together for 14 years and have two children together, were living separate lives, both seemed reluctant to address their relationship woes.
But today, they announced they were calling it quits on their relationship.
The couple “have amicably separated,” Depp’s publicist said in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight Tuesday. “Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
Incidentally, the pair, who first got together in 1998, haven’t appeared on the red carpet together for a year.
Depp, 49, and Paradis, 39, never married, with the French actress explaining that it was something she “could do without”.
Paradis told Elle: “I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be – we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.”
If after 14 years their relationship falters, we have to ask: Which Hollywood couple is headed to splitsville next?
