Anonymous, the world’s largest hacking and online activist group, are naming and shaming the man who allegedly bullied Amanda Todd and sent topless images of her to “everyone” she knew.
The organization has named a Vancouver-area man, saying on an online post “at the most this is the person who did this to Amanda Todd, and at the least it’s another pedophile that enjoys taking advantage of children.” [Jezebel adds that he is a 32-year-old former Facebook employee]
Under their YouTube video, which was posted on Monday, Anonymous provided the following message (for legal reasons we have removed the name of the man in question and replaced it by the letter X)…
Dear citizens of our nation.
We have brought this announcement forwards solely for the purpose of releasing Amanda Todd’s punisher’s identity.
Below, you will find a URL to the man’s DOX. In there, you will see various information about said person. [X] is an abomination to our society, and will be punished.
We Are Anonymous. We Are Legion. We Do Not Forget. We Do Not Forgive. X. Expect us!
Anonymous also revealed his address.
Vice magazine has taken it one step further and posted information that reportedly further links Todd to the alleged bully, including Google Map screenshots of his house, his Facebook profile, chat conversations and screenshots from a “jailbait” website account supposedly tied to the man.
The man in question is already facing the wrath of the internet, with Facebook groups popping up with names like, “X WILL die,” and “X Better Sleep With 1 Eye Open.”
CKNW reporters have unsuccessfully tried to speak with the man, and neighbours have described his home as “a known party house on the weekend with lots of young women coming and going”.
Todd, 15, committed suicide on Wednesday following years of bullying and detailed in a YouTube video.
During a memorial gathering for Todd on Monday, her friends said they’ve been aware of an unknown man in his 30s “stalking” their friend for years.
The video from Anonymous is posted below….please use your own judgement and moral compass when viewing it as there are genuine concerns over participating in a “trial by internet’”
