Way before she was mom of six and a tireless humanitarian, Angelina Jolie was a wild child, addicted to heroin, a self-confessed “cutter” (someone whose self-esteem was so low that she coped by making small cuts in her arms and legs) and indulging in S & M.
For most men, these qualities would be a turn off, but not for rock god Mick Jagger who was obsessed with the 26-year-old for two years.
Though rumors of an affair between the two have been circulating for years, a new book “MICK: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger” by best-selling author Christopher Andersen lifts the lid on the Rolling Stones frontman’s two-year infatuation with Jolie.
Andersen has penned a piece in today’s NY Daily News, where he reveals that Jagger pursed Jolie with rigor, and became more and more obsessed by her when she constantly refused to take his calls.
“Angelina, it’s Mick. Will you please, please call me?” “Miss Jolie, why aren’t you returning my calls?” “Angelina, I have got to speak to you. Call me,” were some of the messages he left according to Andersen’s tome, which cites Marcheline Bertrand’s friend Lauren Taines as being privy to the information.
It is also suggested that Bertrand was obsessed with Jagger and thought he would be perfect for her daughter, who was already married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller and carrying on an affair with actor Timothy Hutton.
“Marche loved Mick for Angie,” Lauren Taines revealed.. “She felt that he could teach her about fame and how to handle it.”
But it seems, Jolie was the one who was doing the teaching, showing the frontman that he couldn’t always get what he wanted.
Jolie was “messing with Mick’s head” and he was “virtually sobbing” on the phone trying to get her to spend time with him, claims Taines.
Recalling the period when Jagger and Jolie were on the set of the Rolling Stones video “Anyone Seen My Baby”, where Jolie played a stripper, Jagger was said to admit he was infatuated by her wild side saying, “She scares me a little. I like that.”
Jolie was said to be temperamental, with a penchant for severe mood swings.
“I can’t f—— sing, and I can’t f—— dance!” she said, tossing an angry look at the director. “What the f— am I doing here?”
Jagger’s enchantment with Jolie was said to have continued even he was ending his marriage with Jerry Hall in 1999. He is said to have presented her with a $5,000 pair of earrings.
But by 1999, Jolie had her hands full, juggling her numerous lovers which allegedly included Tim Hutton, her future husband Billy Bob Thornton, Nicolas Cage and Russell Crowe.
Looks like Jagger could get no satisfaction where Jolie is concerned.
