His smile was warm and his statue larger-than-life. He was the Chicago-raised ditch digger who moved to L.A, became a bodyguard for the likes of Jamie Foxx and Will Smith, and then went on to become a star in his own right.
But today, the film industry lost another great talent after Michael Clarke Duncan passed away. He was just 54. The Oscar-nominated star of The Green Mile, died in a Los Angeles hospital following two months of treatment after he suffered a massive heart attack on July 13.
According to a statement issued on behalf of his fiancé, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault, the former star of The Apprentice, the actor never fully recovered from the incident over two months ago.
“Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time,” says the statement. “Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”
Among his film credits were Armageddon, Planet of the Apes and The Whole Nine Yards.
What a magnificent talent….
