For all of the destruction that Hurricane Sandy caused, it also delivered some real-life heroes who showed that despite what is occurring, it really is a beautiful world after all.

We will be bringing you Sandy’s Heroes throughout the day, but here is the first clip that shows a man running to the shore in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey during the superstorm after he noticed a poor deer swept out to sea in the turbulent currents.

The unidentified man tried to coax the animal to shore, but this short clip ends before the animal makes it to dry land.

Good news: The deer was rescued from the water. It’s suffering a broken leg and officials told WAVY-TV 10 that it will be nursed back to health.
