You may know the name and the face: Prince Lorenzo was ABC’s “The Bachelor” in 2006, and more recently, he appeared on “Celebrity Big Brother” in the UK in the summer and fall of 2012.
But reality show franchises to one side, Prince Lorenzo has being tirelessly working for some time on his pet project.
He is the and President of Royal Treatment and it’s official website.
And his love of animals led to his involvement in many animal welfare organizations including the Humane Society of the United States, North Shore Animal League and is an honorary animal welfare Ambassador for the ASPCA.Â
He is also an Ambassador to the American Humane Association and serves on American Humane Association’s National Leadership Advisory Council as well as President and co-founder of Animal Aid USA, a not-for-profit organization which through awareness and legislation, aims to stop the inhumane treatment of animals.
In July of 2012 Animal Aid USA organized the Amazing Grace Caravan, named after Grace, a dog who survived the gas chamber in 2006. This caravan brought awareness to this country’s use of the gas chamber in 31 states and also resulted in saving 188 dogs from a high-kill Georgia shelter.Â
Caravan trips are now planned on a monthly basis and result in an average of 85 dogs being pulled and rescued from Georgia. [Animal Aid of the United States also offers free spay and neuter in low-income areas and helps homeless pets find homes through its monthly adoption caravans.   For more information and to sign Animal Aid’s petition to end the gas chamber please go to visit the site]
Cleary he is not resting on his good looks and privilege as he endeavors to use his position for good… and he has been doing this way before his small screen days. In fact, he has been doing what he is passionate about for eleven years now.
We had a quick chat with the Prince in an effort to spread the word on his good work…
Celebzter: Can you tell us about your website?
Prince Lorenzo: Royal Pet Club is a website that sells all Royal Treatment branded items. Royal Treatment partnered with Animal Aid USA (a not-for-profit I cofounded) and donates 5% of its profits as well as $2 for every new customer to Animal Aid. The funds are allocated to support free spay and neuter programs (named “the Royal Fix Club”) through Animal Aid USA’s veterinary partners. To find out more about what we do, visit here.
Celebzter: What is your mission statement?
Prince Lorenzo: Royal Treatment’s mission is to make the world’s most luxurious, safest and effective pet products so that our pets live a longer more comfortable life. Because we love animals, we not only want them to feel, look and smell good, we want to make sure they are safe and treated humanely. As a result, Royal Treatment has partnered with Animal Aid USA to offer free spay and neutering as a way to control the pet population and bring awareness to some of the legal cruelty currently allowed in our great nation. Such cruelty includes euthanasia by gas, i.e., the gas chamber, which is legal in 31 states. To support the ending of the gas chamber, please sign our petition on our homepage
Celebzter: What have been the greatest success stories you have had so far?
Prince Lorenzo: It is the only pet brand that has been on the shopping channel, HSN, for ten consecutive years. What that tells me is that the customer really loves the products and thus, I’m helping pets live a happier, longer life.
Celebzter: What is the most rewarding part of what you do? Prince Lorenzo: What could be more rewarding than working with animals?
About…
Royal Pet Club has partnered with Animal Aid USA, a not-for-profit animal rights and rescue agency, to provide funding to animal shelters in low-income areas. A portion of Royal Pet Club’s proceeds will be funneled to these shelters and specifically allocated to free spay and neuter programs for dogs. Royal Pet Club will donate 5% of its profits as well as $2 for every new customer to support this spay and neuter program through Animal Aid USA’s veterinary partners across the United States. Lorenzo Borghese, the founder of Royal Pet Club, believes that providing spay and neuter services for free is one of the best ways to avoid dog overpopulation. “If people would spay and neuter their pets, this country would be a no-kill country and there would be no need to euthanize a dog because of over population. To euthanize man’s best friend in order to control the population is simply barbaric and must be stopped. To stop this, it’s essential that dogs be spayed and neutered.” Pre-approved veterinarians throughout the United States will be offering this service at reduced rates to Animal Aid USA and as a result, dog owners who financially can’t afford to spay and neuter their dog, will be able to do so for free.   Royal Pet Club will transfer funds directly to Animal Aid USA and Animal Aid USA will then allocate these funds to the approved veterinarians. Animal Aid USA’s logo will also begin appearing on all Royal Treatment grooming products as a way to bring awareness to the importance of spay and neuter programs throughout the United States.
Royal Pet Club is helping the US become no-kill for abandoned pets. Find out how here.
