He arrived at Rome’s Fiumicino airport with a backpack and a beer in hand, only to find that there was no one on duty at the airline desk, where he was scheduled to catch a flight to Oslo.
So, what is a guy to do?
The Norwegian man, who has not been named publicly, decided to jump over the counter and fell into a deep sleep on the baggage belt, next to this bag.
Fifteen minutes went by on a conveyor belt before his slumbered body was noticed by shocked officials as they examined X-rays of him on their screens.
According to reports, Fiumicino airport police were called to the incident to investigate and officers had trouble waking the man from his deep sleep.
An airport police officer denied the incident showed cracks in security– in fact, the official says this kind of thing happens about once a year.
Italian newspaper la Repubblica reported that the man was taken to a hospital because of exposure to the X-rays and is facing charges.
