The world wasn’t the only one to learn of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby news on Monday, so too did the Queen.
According to the MailOnline, members of the Royal Family – including the Queen – were only told about the pregnancy on Monday afternoon after the decision was made to admit Kate to hospital.
However, Kate’s parents were already aware that she was pregnant because she was taken ill while staying at their family home in Berkshire this weekend.
“The pregnancy is in its very early stages – the couple only found out very recently that they were expecting,” a source told the British newspaper. “But because she has been admitted to hospital and will have to stay in for a few days, they made the difficult decision to make things public.”
The 30-year-old was taken to King Edward VII Hospital in central London with acute morning sickness and is expected to be kept in for several days. She was admitted only as a precautionary measure.
Royal sources also tell the paper that while the couple are happy, they are also nervous because the pregnancy is in its very early stages and added it would not have been announced at this time had it not been for the fact that she had been taken to hospital.
It is thought that Kate has not even passed the 12-week point.
