Report: ‘Top Gun’ Director Tony Scott had inoperable brain cancer

With a stellar career, a model wife and two children, many people in the entertainment industry were today scratching their heads as to why Tony Scott would suddenly take his own life.

The famed director died Sunday after jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles, and the Coroner’s Office found several notes to loved ones in Scott’s car, a spokesman told The Associated Press. A suicide note was later found at his office, according to the AP.

Now, a new report may shed some light on why Scott, the director of Top Gun,Days of Thunder and Crimson Tide, committed suicide

A source tells ABC News, the 68-year-old had inoperable brain cancer.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.

Scott is survived by his third wife, actress Donna Scott, the mother of his two young sons.

“I can confirm that Mr. Scott has indeed passed away. The family asks that their privacy be respected at this time,” a spokesman said in a statement.
