Just a day after revealing she was battling MDS, a rare disease of the blood and bone marrow, Robin Roberts thanked the public for their overwhelming support.
“I slept like a baby for the first time since my diagnosis,” said, adding that she had been touched by the ”comfort and support” she had received from viewers of the hit ABC morning show.
Additionally, First Lady Michelle Obama and Ann Romney, the wife of the Republican Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, also reached out to her.
“Barack and I have you in our prayers. We believe in you and thank you for bringing awareness and hope to others. –mo,” Mrs. Obama Tweeted.
Roberts, 51, is set to undergo a bone-marrow transplant, with her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, as a donor.
Five years ago she successfully beat breast cancer.
