Their impromptu 3am swimming match at the Wynn hotel’s XS Nightclub pool in Las Vegas made headlines across the world.
But Ryan Lochte and Prince Harry’s pool duel was met with more glee than dissatisfaction.
And little did anyone know at that point what was to come, and that Prince Harry’s crown jewels would be seen all across the globe in an embarrassing set of nude pictures.
And Lochte acknowledges that is one headline he is glad he wasn’t apart of.
The 28-year-old told NBC’s Matt Lauer he’s “kinda happy” he missed out on the prince’s late-night naked party.
“After our race, we went our separate ways,” he said.
The Olympic hunk also detailed how the pair came to end up in the same pool at 3am.
“We were at the same pool party and his people came over to my table and said Prince Harry wants to meet you,” he said.
He said that is was Harry’s idea to face off in the swimming pool.
“I took off my shirt and jumped in, and we started racing,” he explained.
He also went on to describe Harry as “really talkative”, adding that swimming against the royal was “the coolest thing.”
