We all have our own personal favorite moments of each day. For some people,  it is the moment they wake up, bursting with energy and buzzing with new ideas. For others, it is when the clock strikes 6 and they check out of work and check back into their own life.

For this mailman, his favorite part of the day comes courtesy of a neighborhood dog, who greets him with his tail wagging every single day.

Talk about a hero’s welcome! This pooch shows why dogs really are a man’s best friend as he bounces with glee as his master returns from Afghanistan.

Linda P, who submitted the story and video to Welcome Home Blog, explains the touching moment that was captured on camera.

“My daughter’s boyfriend was deployed to Afghanistan 2011-2012 with an Army Reserves Task Force, and we were caring for his dog,” she says.

“Jasmine, at our house. Josh had last seen her in October of 2011, when he came home on leave, He returned to the states in March 2012. Jasmine is a well-behaved dog who loves her master, whining and snuggling when she sees him, getting very excited and as close as she can to Josh. Our dog, Sheba, doesn’t know what to do as Jasmine runs around, so excited about Josh’s return,” Linda adds.

Adorable Animal Odd Couples: Meet Kate and Pip

The innocence and love of animals is such a nice relief in a world so heavily laden with bad news.

And this duo is one of our favorites.

To promote their Animal Odd Couples series, posted this clip of Kate, the dog, and Pip, the deer who are best friends.

Kate’s owner Isobel Springett says of this odd couple: “When they greet each other, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s not a deer greeting a deer. It’s not a dog greeting a dog. It’s definitely something that they have between the two of them.”

And on their Facebook page, Kate “writes” about her affection for Pip.

“I’m Kate the Great Dane and my best friend is a deer named Pip.  I adopted Pip when her mom got scared by the neighbors dogs and ran away.  I love Pip and Pip  loves me, we’re best friends forever!” Kate says.

Giving new meaning to man’s best friend: The picture that will melt your heart

It is the photo that has touched people across the world, that of John Unger of Bayfield, Wis, rocking his beloved pooch to sleep.

For the past 19 years, Unger’s loyal companion has been a shepherd mix named Schoep, who even helped him overcome his own personal heartbreak.

Now, Unger is repaying back the favor, showering the dog with love and helping to soothe the pain  of severe arthritis.

Two weeks ago, Unger learnt of Schoep’s condition and he knew that people suffering from arthritis respond well to water therapy, so he brought his aging dog to one of their favorite spots: Lake Superior.

With the prognosis grim (Schoep may have to be out down), Unger asked his  photographer friend, Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, to capture a photo that would last a lifetime.

And she did.

As of Thursday, this snap has  nearly 300,000 likes and 32,000 comments and Unger says he has been touched by the public’s reaction.

“To see that this photo has lifted their spirits … that right there lifts mine even higher,” he said.
