This hilarious snap caught our eye this morning after Nicole Richie posted it on Twitter.
The photo was taken when Nicole paid a visit to the “Rachel Ray Show” to promote her reality show “Fashion Star”, in which she discussed how touring with her dad, Lionel Richie, helped inspire her career in fashion, including her own clothing and jewelry lines.
Engaged NBC’s Fashion Star Host- Louise Roe visits Soolip in Los Angeles
Did you know Fashion Star Louise Roe is engaged? If you watch NBC you do; the bride-to-be has been gushing over her plans to wed hunky model Josh Slack. We caught up with her previewing her wedding invites at Soolip, the place to go when planning a big-event wedding.
She also told us she plans on attending the swanky Soolip annual modern day bridal event this Sunday,at the Bel Air Bay Club. The who’s who of Hollywood luxury wedding brands showcases at this event. Louise says she hopes to find everything for her wedding at the event. Happy shopping!
The designers are told to show some versatility and get out of your comfort zone. “What’s Your Campaign” had the mentors creating a brand campaign for their designs as well as their entire collection.
You Are Not Our Fashion Star: Ross Bennett. He was determined to show an old-fashioned and plain ugly equestrian jacket. He should design for the blue-haired ladies at Talbots. They would love him.
Most Favorite Sold Item: Luciana Scarabello. The silk floral dress shows off my favorite part of a woman, the delicate shoulders.
Least Favorite Sold Item: Ronnie’s Emma dress. The royal blue pops but in the end it’s just a plain boring dress..
Most Consistent Crier: Kara Laricks. Granted she talked about her biggest regret about not coming out as gay while still a teacher, she’s a bit easy on the water works.
Most Surprised to See Cry: Jessica Simpson was fighting tears as her fellow Texas, Ross Bennett was sent home.
The designers are told to show some versatility and get out of your comfort zone.
Not Our Fashion Star: Barbara Bates
Most Favorite Sold Item: Kara Laricks’s Long Layered Dresses. I would rock the black and pin striped item with sky high wedges.
Favorite Sold Item #2: Luciana Scarabello’s Cropped Jacket. Perfect for Summer, Spring and Fall.
Favorite Unsold Item: None. The buyers were right.
Most Hated Design: Barbara Bate’s Color blocking print bohemian dress.
Least Understood Sold Design: Ross Bennett’s vintage lingere was too high-waisted to look good on anyone except tall and thin models.
So Over It Design: Orly Shani’s gimmicky twofer designs.
Cattiest Comment: Orly Shani remarking about Ross Bennett’s vintage lingere, “ When you do the most research, you end up not doing things your own way.” Ross got the last laugh with a $50K bid and Orly didn’t with her usual twofer Confederate jacket.
Fashion Star – Episode Five Living Department Store April 10, 2012
By J.K. Holland
As a hardcore fan of fashion and makeover reality shows like What Not To Wear and Project Runway, I was excited to DVR NBC’s fashion reality answer, Fashion Star. Complete with designers, brand names, models, fashion magazine regulars and designer stores this show has all the makings of a runaway best seller. While I like Fashion Star overall, this show begs some obvious questions:
What exactly do the buyer’s dollar amounts mean? Do the designer contestants get a cut of it? Does it go toward manufacturing? Please Elle MacPherson explain it already.
I know the show’s only an hour long, but I think we should be able to see all the contestant’s designs on the runway. Why do they cut show time for sold designs but show some of the failed ones?
When winning fashion’s are ‘sold out’ exactly how many of the outfits are sold and made? An aftermarket financial recap would complete the cycle from the beginning of design to selling to a retail store to a customer buying it off the rack.
As the show goes on what if every designs gets sold or only two are not sold then how do the eliminations work?
Now let’s move to the episode 5 recap:
Favorite Sold Item: Ross Bennett – Double Breasted Vest, especially the pink one.
Favorite Unsold Item: Nzimiro Puta – Casual Men Jacket. The button and detailing were eye catching, wearable and trend leading.
Worse decision by the mentors: Saving Barbara Bates. Her designs have been awkward and lackluster. Instead of giving a variety on her Pinstripe Skirt and Ruffle Top, she chose the exact same bottom for all three. As John Varvatos pointed out, this was her chance to show some creativity.
Most Hated Design: Kara Laricks – Shirt dress. Looks too much like you are wearing your boyfriend’s shirt. It is too casual to wear to the office or for day wear. They should be marketed as pajamas.
Just Shut Up Aleady: Jessica Simpson and Ross Bennett – The constant Texas and down home references and bonding. As a Texas girl, even I am tired of this obnoxious banter.
