The good and bad news of the morning

With everyone already getting in the spirit of the Labor Day holiday, we thought we break down the news this morning in one quick hit.

Good News

Tori Spelling has welcomed her fourth child with husband Dean McDermott. The actress gave birth on Thursday evening to a 6lb, 6oz baby boy and announced the news on her website, writing: “We are so excited to announce the birth of the newest member of the McDermott family!Please join us in welcoming Finn Davey McDermott.” [Tori Spelling]

Sad News

Robin Roberts mom, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts, has passed away. Robin made it home to Mississippi to say goodbye. [GMA]

Sylvester Stallone’s son, Sage, died of heart disease, not drugs, the Los Angeles County coroner announced Thursday.  He was just 36.

Eddie Van Halen’s has undergone emergency surgery. The Van Halen rocker, 57, had the surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis, according to a statement on his band’s website.

Strange developments

This LeAnn Rimes story has more twists and turns than a Lifetime movie. TMZ reports that she isn’t in rehab; Radar Online says that fears over hubby Eddie Cibrian cheating drove her to seek treatment; and then there is the Twitter war.

She is now suing two women over invasion of privacy, saying that Kimberly and Lexi Smiley illegally tape-recorded her during a phone conversation without her consent.

Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday claim that Kimberly and Lexi Smiley “conspired to spitefully ensure that out-of-context excerpts of that recording would be disseminated to the public.”

Well, hello baby!

There are said to be fewer than  200 Sumatran rhino’s alive in Southeast Asia, so when a female named Ratu gave birth on Saturday, it was understandable that the calf was named a “gift from God”.

Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan said he had picked the name “Andatu” for the male calf, which was born at an Indonesian sanctuary, on the southern tip of Sumatra island.

“Andatu” combines parts of its parents’ name, Andalas the father and mother Ratu, and refers to “Anugerah Dari Tuhan”, or Gift from God in Indonesian, he told a press conference.

“Andatu is the most appropriate choice” he said. “His birth is a milestone in the conservation of Sumatran rhinos and will build public confidence of rhino conservation efforts in our country,” he added.

The birth is even more significant given the  50 percent drop in population numbers of Sumatran rhinoceros over the past 20 years.

They are victims of poaching and of the destruction of their habitat. According to environmentalists, two million hectares (five million acres) of forests are lost every year in Indonesia.

Having a baby could net Jessica Simpson close to $4 million

Just this week, Jessica Simpson gushed about her daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, telling her Twitter followers just how much she adored being a mom

“I am so in love with baby Maxwell,” she wrote. “I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I’ve ever experienced.”

And, having her first child is also going to turn out to be quite profitable too, if new reports turn out to be correct.

Jessica, who already has amassed one billion dollars in sales of her fashion line, is said to have sold the first pictures of her baby girl to People magazine for $800,000.

Though the price isn’t as high as the glory days of the $11 million for the exclusive of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins Vivienne and Knox, the figure is still extraordinarily generous given the current declining sales of the celebrity weeklies.

Then, there are the mounting rumors that she is set to sign a $3 million deal with Weight Watchers as she endeavors to shed those whopping 40 pounds she gained while she was pregnant.

Oh, and when she does marry sportsman Eric Johnson, those photos will expected to be sold off too, to the highest bidder.

No one can ever accuse Jessica of being a ditzy blonde. Shrewd businesswoman, is more like it.

Breaking News: Jessica Simpson HAS given birth to a baby girl… find out the newborn’s name inside

Update: It has finally happened!!!!!

 Jessica Simpson has given birth. She and fiance Eric Johnson welcomed a baby girl this morning.

The singer announced the arrival of Maxwell Drew Johnson on her website, saying the baby weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 ounces.

“We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received,” she said in a statement. “This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”

Could today finally, finally be the day that Jessica Simpson gives birth after what appears to be the longest pregnancy in living celebrity history?

It could well be…. and we can just feel the excitement building, in what may be a truly historic moment.

TMZ is reporting that Jessica Simpson and several members of her family arrived to an L.A. hospital this morning.

They write that Jessica, her mother Tina and her sister Ashlee just arrived to the hospital … along with Eric Johnson’s parents.

Jennifer welcomes a boy

UPDATE: Ben just wrote on his Facebook page, and revealed the name of their new bundle of joy.

“We are happy to announce on February 27, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Samuel Garner Affleck,” he posted.

Her pregnancy seemed to go…and on.

But, according to people.com Jennifer Garner has given birth to a son in Santa Monica.

She and hubby Ben Affleck already have two girls Seraphina, 3, and Violet, 6, and we’re Ben will be thrilled with the new addition.

Next up on baby bump watch: Hilary Duff, and Jessica Simpson, who looks HUGE.
