If it wasn’t bad enough that James Holmes went and killed 12 innocent people, then this latest news will leave you sick to your stomach.
A new trend has sprung up which sees a gathering of teens calling themselves “Holmies” showing their support for the mass murderer online.
According to reports, “Holmies” are a growing fan community with their own inside jokes and displays of devotion to the 24-year-old mass murderer.
The fans post photos of themselves in flannel shirts and drinking slurpees and exchange stories of how they admire what the killer has done.
Most of the “Holmies” so far are young women.
As one online commentator said, “I can understand it if you’re fascinated by the minds of killers But really? Idolizing him, dressing like him, creating art of him and paying tribute to him? This is even more incomprehensible than the incident itself.”
The fanfare of his previous court appearance wasn’t evident for the world to see, after cameras were barred from the hearing, but James Holmes behavior was said to be equally as bizarre as that now-infamous, eye-rolling of July 23.
Today, Holmes, responsible for the deaths of twelve people after embarking on a shooting spree at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., on July 20, was charged with 24 counts of first degree murder today, two counts for each of the people he is accused of killing.
The 24-year-old was also charged with 116 counts of attempted first degree murder.
According to ABC, Holmes appeared in court wearing a maroon colored jumpsuit, his hair still dyed an orange-pink color, and his loopy mannerisms similar to his first appearance in court. Throughout the hearing, Holmes’ eyes sporadically grew wider as he raised his eyebrows, stared blankly around the room, and then stared down into his lap.
He spoke once, when the judge asked him whether he wanted to waive his right to a preliminary hearing within 30 days, answering simply, “Yes”.
Prosecutors will have 60 days from the date of the arraignment to decide if they will seek the death sentence for Holmes.

How low can one man go? That is the question when it pertains to James Holmes. According to a new exclusive report surfacing from the NY Daily News the mass murder maniac is now feigning ignorance as to why he is currently locked up in a prison cell in Arapahoe County Detention Center.
“He claims he doesn’t know why he’s in jail,” a jail worker told the newspaper. “He asked, ‘Why am I here?’”
Oh, and he’s sick little game gets a lot sicker– Holmes has also been complaining of a stomach ache and says he doesn’t like the prison food.
“He’s claiming his belly hurts him,” the worker said. “He complained once that he didn’t like the food . . . The guy killed 12 people, and he’s upset that he’s not getting a four-star meal?”
According to the report, Holmes, 24, picks at his food and is forced to wear a bulletproof vest during his daily walk as authorities fear that he is a dead man walking in inmates eyes.
And, no one in prison is buying his “what am I doing here?” act.
“He needs to save his act for the jury because no one here is buying it,” the worker said. “Everyone is convinced he is faking it.”
He shocked the nation with his brutal cold-hearted crimes, but as James Holmes sat in court today charged with the murder of 12 people, he seemed to be so sedated and out of it, that he could barely keep his head up.
Nodding off on occasion, Holmes barely registered what was occurring– that he was being charged with first- degree murder and would be held in custody without bail.
Prosecutors have not decided if they will pursue the death penalty, though the depths of raw emotions and the outrage amongst the public could well be the instigator needed to bring about the capital murder charge.
Arapahoe County District Attorney Carol Chambers told reporters today she is talking with victims and their family members about it.
There are currently only three people on Colorado’s death row, with the last execution taking place in 1997.
We hope today’s drugged-out appearance by Holmes wasn’t part of a ploy for him to claim insanity.
James Holmes appears to be a typical teenager in the clip below from six years ago. He lists his future objectives as wanting to own a slurpee machine, which has no direct parallels to mass murder.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Holmes appears to be showing no remorse for his deadly slayings.
The New York Daily News quotes a jailhouse worker at Arapahoe Detention Center, where Holmes is being held, as saying that he has remained in his murderous “Joker” persona since arriving on Saturday.
“Let’s just say he hasn’t shown any remorse,” the employee said. “He thinks he’s acting in a movie.”
And an inmate also told the paper that Holmes “was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards”.
“He’s spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy,” the inmate said
The paper also reports that many of the inmates want Holmes dead and he is currently in solitary confinement.
On the suspect’s first night in jail, other prisoners serenaded him with a chant of “kid killer” — a reference to the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old girl, the NY Daily News writes.
“All the inmates were talking about killing him,” Wayne Medley, 24, said as he left the facility. “Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about.”
There are numerous questions that need to be raised following the massacre, including tighter laws surrounding gun control, but also, if he has confessed, then why put him in jail for years and waste tax payers money… certainly if there has ever been a more worthy of candidate of lethal injection, then Holmes should be it.
We know if convicted, Holmes will face the death penalty, but why not make his punishment swift and perhaps, let him out of his solitary confinement and have fellow inmates give him a taste on his own heinous medicine….

He has been described by his neighbours as a loner– and as it turns out, a deadly one at that. Though his sickening motives are still yet unclear, what is now known about James Holmes, 24, is that he is a medical school dropout.
Holmes was studying a PHD in neurosciences at the University of Colorado School of Medicine but dropped out just last month.
Now, new details are emerging as to just what Holmes said when he was arrested.
“He said he was the Joker, enemy of Batman,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said, adding that the madman had also painted his hair red.
Federal law enforcement sources told ABC News that Holmes bought a ticket to the movie, slipped out of the theater once it began and propped open the emergency exit before gathering his weapons and gear and coming back into the theater. Once inside, he opened fire.
Moviegoer Christopher Ramos today recalled the real-life horror of the midnight premiere of the latest Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises,” in Aurora, Colo., as a gunman decked in riot gear set off smoke bombs and opened fire on the unsuspecting audience.
“People were running everywhere, running on top of me, like kicking me, jumping over me. And there were bodies on the ground,” Ramos said. “I froze up. I was scared. I honestly thought I was going to die.”
“The image in our heads is stuck in there. I still have the ticket right here and honestly, I’m never going to forget this night at all. Because it was the first time I saw something that was real. Like a real-life nightmare that was there, not dreaming of,” Ramos told ABC News today.
This makes out stomachs turn….such a horrendous, sick crime, and the shooting is one of the worst in U. S history. If ever there was another reason to reform gun control, then certainly this would be it!
