James Franco at 5am. Still lookin’ Good

'Good Morning America' Guests

If James Franco seems to be everywhere these days, that’s because he is. Fresh off a European swing to promote “Oz: The Great and Powerful” he popped up on Good Morning America, looking impossibly sauve and handsome for such an early hour. And we’re digging the shades, Gucci  Sunglasses, in case you were wondering; available at Solstice Sunglasses, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and select optical shops nationwide for $265.

Jeepers creepers, where’d you get those peepers?

Sunglasses are undoubtedly one of the most important accessories in a gal’s wardrobe so we went to an expert, Eden Wexler, Director of Public Relations for SOLSTICE Sunglasses, who knows everything there is to know about peepers. In her years working with the sunglass company she has outfitted over 10,000 celebrities and works closely with SOLSTICE on their various collections.

Among other things, we learned how to find a pair that fit our face, what styles will be popular this summer — and about the “smile test.”

CELEBZTER: What’s new in sunglasses ?

EDEN: Polarization is the big technology trend in lenses this spring/summer which I predict is  here to stay.  Consumers are increasingly looking to merge fashion with function.  Previously more popular with sport brands and worn  for  specific  outdoor  activities,  the  benefits  of glare-reducing polarized  lenses  are  now  widely  available  in  many  fashion  sunglass collections.   We are particularly excited about the new Polaroid polarized sunglass  collection  which launched  in January at SOLSTICE.  Polaroid is one  of  the  top brands in Europe so we are excited to offer this brand in the  U.S. The  Polaroid Core and Polaroid Premium styles are attractively priced  at at $60.00 and $98.00, respectively, which is phenomenal for a great looking frame with glare-reducing polarized lenses.

The new Polaroid Plus collection ($145.00 retail), launching in March, ups the fashion and technology quotient even further with the new UltraSight Plus – their most advanced polarized lens yet.

P4241AThe Polaroid  collection was a big hit with celebrities we fit in the official  Grammy’s Gift Lounge.  In addition to Polaroid, you can find various  polarized options in our full price stores, SOLSTICE Outlet stores and online at  SOLSTICE sunglasses from  brands  such  as  Alexander McQueen,  Bottega  Veneta, Gucci, Kate Spade and Marc by Marc Jacobs, among others. (EDITOR’S NOTE: We’re giving away a pair of the new Polaroid Plus $145 beauties! Check out our Monday Madness!)

EDEN : Colorful  shades are  definitely a trend in 2013, especially for spring. Fashion  sunglasses  are  offered  in  a  full spectrum of sherbert colored shades  ranging  from pink and greens to yellow and orange as seen in Gucci SS  2013  women  fashion  show  sunglasses.  Blue is also another popular color this spring.

Transparent effects are just as popular this season in sunglasses as they are in other accessories categories such as shoes, bags and jewelry, with brightly colored mirrored lenses completing the look. Carrera and Marc by Jacobs, offer great examples.

GG 4241S-EYYEDEN: Unconventional and unique shapes are on the rise as people use their eyewear  as  a  further expression of individualism.   Bold, unconventional and unique shapes and styling, as reflected in Dior, Saint Laurent and Marc Jacobs’,  are all the rage.

CELEBZTER: What do you find to be people’s main concerns when they’re shopping for sunglasses?

EDEN: Everyone tells me that they either don’t have a ‘good sunglass face’ and can never find glasses that look good on them (complete nonsense!) or that they have crooked ears and, thus, sunglasses don’t sit properly on their face.  Proper fit is definitely a big issue. Those without a pronounced nose bridge or full cheeks have the most difficulty finding sunglasses.

CELEBZTER: Any tips on what people should look for when they’re shopping for sunglasses?

EDEN: First, keep an open mind and be willing try glasses outside of your comfort zone as a new pair of sunglasses can easily update your wardrobe and/or persona and make you feel really good about yourself.  Keep proper fit in mind, however.  Make sure that the glasses provide adequate coverage under  and around the eyes and sit properly on your nose without resting on the cheeks. Do the smile test – it works every time – if the glasses noticeably raise off your nose  bridge (illustrating improper fit), move on to the next pair!

So there it is folks – everything you ever wanted to know about scoring the perfect pair of shades.

The future is so bright, these stars need shades

Whilst most of the world is reeling over Whitney’s sudden death, prior to it happening, some of music’s stars were in quite good spirits as they hit the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo USA suite at The 54th Annual Grammy Awards Gift Lounge.

Here is some great gossip from inside the suite….

Chris Brown slipped on a pair of Carrera sunglasses before rushing out the door from the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo USA suite at The 54th Annual Grammy Awards Gift Lounge. Recently the singer has been romantically linked to his previous girlfriend Rhianna again, so perhaps he was in a hurry to see her?

Never too late for shades? As Nicki Manaj stylist kept frantically calling her for a scheduled fitting back at their hotel, the mellow pop star couldn’t resist the trays of sunglasses that were presented to her by Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo Group in the parking lot of the Staples Center after her rehearsal for the Grammy Awards. Sitting pretty in the driver seat of her pink Bentley, the singer used the visor mirror for reflection and to make her selection, and finally chose a pair of hot pink Kate Spade cat eye sunglasses that match her car exactly. She sufficed her sunglass fix by also throwing in a pair of white Carrera shields and Alexander McQueen coral aviators.

You can tell that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, as Rami Jaffee of the Foo Fighters only had eyes his love Daryl Hannah and wanted to make sure she was being fitted for shades before him since they were rushed for time at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo USA suite at The 54th Annual Grammy Awards Gift Lounge. Daryl rocked a pair of Tommy Hilfiger 1084s and Jami chose Carrera sunglasses, saying “These are F-in cool!”

Matchy matchy! Couple Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose picked the same old-school Carrera 86 aviators at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo USA suite at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards Gift Lounge. The two seemed completely happy and very into each other. As a true lover for all sunglasses, Amber turned around in a pair of Tommy Hilfiger shades and said “Babe what do you think?” Wiz replied with a wink, “Everything looks good on you!”

Hot mamas Kyle Richards and Jane Seymour couldn’t resist the shades at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Safilo USAsuite either… Picking up something for them AND their kids. Proud mom Jane introduced her rock star son, lead singer of PT5, to all, promoting his new music.

Party Hopping at Sundance: Going behind the velvet rope at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique

Solstice Sunglass Boutique fitted a variety of bold names with the new Spring 2012 collection this weekend at The Bertolli Meal Soup Chalet hosted by GenArt and the CWPR’s RE: Treat Lounge

Some of the famous faces that stopped by included Emily Blunt, Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, Laura Prepon, Nia Vardalos, Tyler Hilton, Geoffrey Arend, Christina Hendricks, Megan Park, Anthony Mackie, Dylan O’Brien, Byrdie Bell, Casper Van Dien, Kaycee Stroh, Andie McDowell, Julie Marie Berman, Grant Harvey, Katie Aselton, Jesse Williams, Justin Long and Laetitia Casta

Here’s some fun tidbits…..

Are you there sunglasses? It’s me Laura Prepon. Laura pulled a classic move on Friday, loading in the car in a hurry she forgot her shades on the roof and accidentally drove off. After a few minutes of search & rescue she gave up and swung by Solstice Sunglass Boutique at The Bertolli Meal Soup Chalet hosted by GenArt for a new pair. Dressed in a furry black and gray animal hat with ears – given to her by her “hippie sister” – she slipped on Tommy Hilfiger shades to match her ski bunny outfit. The actress joked about needing big shades for her big head. Before leaving she got her caffeine kick before heading back out into the snow, fully prepared to take on the storm.

Snowboard vs. Skies? That was the big discussion between Black Rock co-stars Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell and Katie Aselton, all in town for their film premiere. The trio agreed that skiing is preferred among the ladies, but après-ski by a warm fire is the real winner. Kate admitted that she hadn’t even tried snowboarding… Returning to Sundance, she told a friend how much she loved working on the thriller – about three childhood friends that go to an island as adults – especially with Lake and Katie. As the true fashionista in the group, Kate gave pointers to her friends, pointing out a pair Marc Jacobs at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique lounge that she liked and suggested them to Lake, who ended up with a pair of YSL shades.

Christina Hendricks was at Sundance to support her hubby Geoffrey Arend in his first lead role, starring in Save The Date. The love couple bundled up together to watch the Giants vs. San Francisco game on Sunday, while onsite the two stocked up on shades at Solstice Sunglass Boutique. Both picked up sunglasses from the same brand, Christina rocking a pair of YSL 6367 and Geoffrey in YSL 2334.

Justin Long is probably used to being surrounded by the young ladies, but grandmas? As Justin made his way over to Solstice Sunglass Boutique on Sunday, he forgot his shopping bags on a nearby coach, which he purposely had left behind, and was surprised to see an 80-year -old woman tapping his shoulder with the bags in her hand. The older lady seemed to have a crush on the actor as she sat down next to him when he was trying on sunglasses from Boss Black and gave her opinion on every pair he tried on. He finally escaped her site and slipped out of The Bertolli Meal Soup Chalet hosted by GenArt.

Emily Blunt popped by Solstice Sunglass Boutique at CW3PR’s RE: treat lounge proclaiming how she’s always in sunglasses and loves a good aviator. In Park City to promote her new film Your Sister’s Sister, the actress picked up a few pairs of sunglasses from Bottega Veneta and YSL to bring back to LA. She couldn’t wait to show her hubby John Krasinski the  shades and quickly ran out to meet him for a bite to eat.

Andie McDowell had no movie at Sundance this year, but that didn’t stop her from attending the festival for charity. She reminisced about her start in the industry, talking about one of her first movies Sex, Lies, and Videotape with a friend. Andie slipped on a pair of Marc Jacobs shades at Solstice Sunglass Boutique before heading out into the cold.

Tyler Hilton picked out shades for his longtime girlfriend Megan Park at Solstice Sunglass Boutique and vice versa. He kept asking for her opinion and finally decided on a pair of Boss Black.
