It’s an invitation that it seems 800 women can’t resist.
Two brothers in need of dates for their cousin’s wedding, placed an ad on Craigslist that has since gone viral.
Originally from Albany, N.Y., Dave, 28, and Mike, 24, (last name withheld) have received well over 800 responses to the humorous posting since it appeared on Reddit and was written up in New York magazine.
“The responses have been wild. We’re trying to sort through them,” Dave told The NY Daily News. “We haven’t gotten a grasp of what’s happened, but I can say that we never dreamed it would go this far.”
With so many responses, the men have had to narrow down their search based on specific guidelines.
“You should respond in pairs as you’ll want to know at least 1 person at this wedding,” the ad states. “Sisters (twins?!) are preferable, but we’ll take friends, or even enemies. You should be attractive or our aunts will judge you, but not TOO attractive or one of our uncles might grope you.”
While Dave says the brothers are “100% serious” about the ad, they also want to respect the event that gave rise to it.
“The bottom line is that this is my cousin’s wedding,” Dave said. “We don’t really want to make a circus out of it. Oh, man, another 12 women just responded.”
