If you need me, I’ll be in the Presidential Suite at the Hotel Maria Cristina in San Sebastian, Spain. Ah, wishful thinking. But at least the luxury property is back open, after an extensive $25 million restoration, which was completed just in time for its 100th anniversary this month.
The re-opening of Hotel Maria Cristina follows in the footsteps of Starwood’s restoration of four of their Luxury Collection including the beautiful Prince de Galles, Paris and TheGritti Palace, Venice, which will debut in 2013.

The venerable hotel also includes:
- 107 luxurious guest rooms and 29 suites that are dressed in pastel tones inspired by the fresh tints of macaron patisseries, with elegant gold furnishings and accents
- Easo Restaurant, set within an octagonal dining room bathed in natural light, offers a delectable selection of local Basque, international and organic dishes, alongside views of the Urumea River and Victoria Eugenia Theatre Square.
- Tse Yang, a haute cuisine Chinese restaurant. First established 15 years ago in Madrid, then in Geneva, Tse Yang brings elegant sophistication to its authentic Chinese cuisine to San Sebastian, offering the city’s residents and visitors an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
You know where I’ll be.
