Garbo came to this resort to be alone. Gable came to frolic with friends. Frank Capra found creative inspiration and called it his “Shangri-La of Screenwriting.”Mere mortals call it La Quinta Resort and Spa and find it in Palm Springs, just two hours East of Los Angeles.
Hacienda-style charm and old world luxury meld to make a stay a wonderful one, starting with the Casitas, which feel like your own bungalow. Most have small pools , to be shared with the other Casitas or venture up to the large pool which serves food and cocktails. (In the hotter months, make sure to reserve a cabana ahead of time.)
For a special dinner, Morgan’s (named after the original owner, W. H. Morgan) serves delicious Californian cuisine, home-made bread and deserts and features a quality wine list.
