On Tuesday night, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, along with Megan Hilty, hosted the “Smash” season 2 kick-off dinner for the cast (old and new) at Bagatelle in NYC.
The first day of school, as “Smash” cast members referred to Tuesday morning as, ended with quite the smash during the season 2 kick-off dinner at Bagatelle in NYC. Hosted by Megan Hilty and Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, the bubbly was flowing amongst new and returning cast members, including Megan’s co-star Katharine McPhee and beau Brian Gallagher. But what would a kick-off dinner be with just French cuisine and champers?
Cast members decided to kick things up a notch, as they began sabering Rosé champagne bottles with a dinner knife into the streets of Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Following the cheer of invited guests and bistro patrons, Megan was spotted showing off her bottle’s remaining cork and collar, saying how she planned to make a necklace out of the piece as a keepsake of the evening.
*Sabrage is a technique for opening a Champagne bottle with a sabre used for ceremonial occasions. The saber is slid along the body of the bottle toward the neck. The force of the blade hitting the lip breaks the glass to separate the collar from the neck of the bottle. The cork and collar remain together after separating from the neck.
